| " Jennifer's book and advice has been invaluable
to us. The techniques are very simple, and we have found through the
use of this consistent approach they have been extremely successful
for us. I have used Jennifer's techniques for both of my children,
and as a result they have both slept through the night from an early
age, and are really happy, settled babies. I could not even tell you
the last time my 16 week old son had had an unsettled day. Also, as
my daughter gets older and we need to make changes to her routine
or behaviour, the approach that Jennifer has taught us works in a
lot of different scenarios for her. " |

" Following the birth of my 2nd daughter, the Maternal Matters
manual has been a fantastic guide for me especially during these
first 12 weeks. For me, it has been used in conjunction with a home
visit by Jennifer, knowing that everything we discussed was clearly
included in the manual.
I found the manual really easy to use as the babies first months
are broken up into small chapters - which has enabled me to read
only the age relevant sections. The windows of time concept and
the flow charts for settling and resettling were really helpful
and easy for both myself and my husband to follow.
The settling and resettling approach is gentle enough for the
early days as I have never been one who finds it easy to leave my
baby to cry for much longer than a short period of time. At home
we call it the "5, 5, 5" - as it is a settling approach
that is easy to ask your partner or family member to follow if you
are taking much needed time out. There is enough flexibility in
the Maternal Matters framework to help you to make the right choices
that follow your maternal instincts even when you are incredibly
sleep deprived ... but that still works towards consistent results
over time.
I have not seen anything on the market that compares or competes
with the Maternal Matters approach - while other leading baby authors
sit on the fence or ignore the often difficult task of learning
to settle a baby, the Maternal Matters manual approaches this in
a detailed step by step way.
The combination of the home visit from Jennifer with the manual
to take away and use afterwards has been really effective for us". |

" Even though this is my 3rd child, it has been 6 years since
our last and I was a bit nervous. With this manual I found it easy
to understand and follow ( espacially being sleep deprived). I took
what I felt comfortable with at the time and referred back to the
manual often . My 3rd child, Bryn, is my best sleeper , so thank-you
Jennifer for all the time you have put into your manual. Maternal
Matters has made life for my family and I much easier. "

" Like most mothers I was very thirsty for information about
my developing baby throughout my whole pregnancy and what to expect
when I returned home from hospital. A friend of mine gave me 'Maternal
Matters' to read and I found it a very useful and informative manual
to have at my finger tips. I read the manuals chapters which related
to each stage of my baby's development. In particular I swear by the
recommendation of the 10pm feed. My baby, Isabella, was starting to
sleep through the night from the age of 7 weeks with the suggestion
of the last day feed at 10pm. I cannot begin to think of how many
people I have told this to, but it certainly made sense to me to encourage
and promote a longer nights sleep for my baby and me. I'd recommend
all mothers, and fathers for that matter, to read Maternal Matters....
there is something in there for everyone! "

"When asked what it is like to have a newborn baby my response
is "The good is better than I could ever have imagined and
the bad is worse than I could have ever expected".
For me the "bad" was a constantly crying baby who didn't
sleep well, no pattern to the day and an 'out of control' feeling
constantly simmering under the surface.
The approach outlined in Jennifer Hamilton's 'Maternal Matters'
book helped make the bad go away! With the age-appropriate frameworks
and step by step approach outlined in the book, I had the direction
I needed to work towards a routine that has ultimately given me
a baby who sleeps well, is happy when he is awake, more consistency
to our days…and increased confidence as a mother.
Having met Jennifer, I felt reassured that the approach in her book
was not only based on her many years of experience with babies and
families, but that above all, it was underpinned by her love for
babies and her desire to help them become happy and content!
