| After having assisted many families with their journey into parenthood,
I now have more than 16 years experience as a mother craft nurse both
here and abroad.
After training as an enrolled nurse I trained as a mother craft
nurse at one of Sydney’s top hospitals for mothers and babies.
I then experienced working as a nanny for a number of years before
obtaining a position at another Sydney mother craft hospital. It
was whilst working within this hospital that I gained much of my
experience.
I then travelled extensively throughout the UK, Europe and America,
working as an in-home maternity nurse supporting, assisting and
educating new parents in newborn care, breast and bottle feeding,
sleep, settling and routine establishment.
Upon returning to Australia 10 years ago I embarked on establishing
my own parent craft home visiting service and have gained valuable
experience and much confidence, enabling me to develop further my
successful feeding, sleeping and settling techniques.
My experience includes many areas of new born care, unsettled babies,
fussy feeders, night waking, oesophageal reflux, multiple births,
postnatal depression and tired and anxious parents.
Even during my younger years as a mother craft nurse I was told
repeatedly by my clients that I should write a book on baby care,
explaining my techniques and guidelines but I strongly felt I had
to journey the road into parenthood myself before I could say I
had any real expertise on the matter.
I am now the mother of two beautiful children and have personally
experienced postnatal depression following the birth of both of
them. I know how hard, confusing and tiring, parenting can be. Especially
in the early days of uncertainty! Becoming a mother myself has also
shown me how immensely rewarded; proud and complete one can feel
at the same time.
Parenting….. There is no other experience quite
so special!!!
